Who We Are

We use the power of grazing animals to regenerate Vermont’s land.

Vermont Grass Farmers raise livestock in their natural environment in a manner that nourishes their neighbors, provides habitat for wildlife and pollinators, builds healthy soil and keeps our waterways clean.

Vermont Grass Farmers Association (VGFA) was founded in 1996 with support from the UVM Center for Sustainable Agriculture and VT-NRCS. VGFA is a farmer-led, free standing 501(c)3 non‐profit with the mission to promote, manage and oversee grazing outreach and education programs in Vermont.

The VGFA is a network of pasture-based livestock farmers. The organization hosts educational workshops and on-farm learning opportunities for farmers and interested individuals, as well as co-hosting an annual Grazing and Livestock Conference. VGFA also undertakes distinct grant projects that improve the viability of pasture-based livestock production in the northeast.
