Kicking Your Grain Bill to the Curb - Dairy Pasture Walk

Walk the pastures at Haynes Dairy with Grazing Expert Sarah Flack and Farmer Baird Swift. They will focus on how Baird has managed his grazing and forage to reduce his grain bill. Topics to be discussed are:

  • Homegrown High Forage Diets

  • Managing perennial forage – both hay and pasture

  • When to hay and when to graze

  • Planning your recovery – how many acres can be hayed to keep you grazing all season.

Agronomy Specialist Heather Danby will join in the walk and share her team’s forage research results and observations.  Mike Thresher of Morrison's Custom Feeds will also be on hand to share his nutrition expertise and considerations for increasing forage consumption.

This event is free, but registration is required by 7/30. Water and snacks provided, please bring your own lunch.
